Jerusalem - via dolorosa / Periods: Roman, Byzantine, Arabic.

Still in Jerusalem, after the Station 7, we leave the street of Via Dolorosa to reach the street of Ma’alot E-Kanqah. Not far from the Church of St. Sepulcher, in the middle of the street, on the outer wall of the Greek Orthodox monastery Saint Charalampos is our station 8. We can observe on the wall a small cross sculpted and blackened by time. Between the branches of the cross is an abbreviated Greek inscription “IC XC NIKA” which translates as “Jesus Christ triumphant”. This place was filmed by the team of 360HolyPlaces™ for you in Virtual Reality 360°.

According to tradition, it was at this station that Jesus met pious women. On seeing the suffering Jesus pass, these pious women follow him, weeping, on the path of Calvary. But Jesus answered them not to be sorry for his fate, but rather to weep over themselves and their sins.
